Learning a New Skill in Lockdown

If you are looking for some inspiration for a new hobby this lockdown, why not take a look at what our Sales & Marketing Manager Suze Ward has been getting up to during this time?

Inspired by ‘The Big Community Sew’ and the current series of ‘The Great British Sewing Bee,’ I decided to dust off my little sewing machine my mum bought me a few years ago, to make some gifts for friends but more importantly some face coverings for the team for when Missenden Abbey reopens its doors; hopefully in the not too distant future.

As a very novice sewer, I was a little nervous about how these face coverings would turn out, but I have been pleasantly surprised! They are relatively easy to make and there are loads of patterns online, some don’t even involve a sewing machine.

It’s really satisfying seeing something I have made be brought to life, and now my partner has put in an order for his team, so I must have done something right!!  28 face coverings made so far and counting.

Take a look at this short video to see how I made them.
